Q: When you have an egg-and-bacon breakfast, what's the difference between the chicken and the pig?

A: The chicken is involved but the pig is committed!

 

OK, it's not the funniest joke or cleverest riddle but the point is clear - for the pig to do his part it means total commitment.

 

Today we're looking at our involvement or commitment to church with the launch of 'Together in Partnership' which will be the subject of Dave's talk later in the meeting.

 

One of our 5 B's is 'BELONGING to a church community.' We believe that this is vital for both Christian growth and witness, but it does not happen accidentally. It requires commitment and the desire to be 'together in partnership.'

 

By focusing on partnership and after Easter in small groups on 'BELONGING to a church community', we trust that this spring will see new spiritual growth as we recommit ourselves to the Lord and to the body of Christ here at Shirley.
