Homelessness Sunday

There are so many worthwhile things competing for our attention. Every week seems to be a something week.

Last week just happened to be 'Food Allergy & Intolerance week' but was also 'Farmhouse breakfast week' as well as 'Be Loud, Be Clear' (bowel cancer) week and probably a few others too. You could have celebrated Burns night on the 25th and remembered the horrific events of the Holocaust on Holocaust Memorial Day on the 27th.

Also now, every Sunday seems to be a something or other Sunday and we could easily spend every Sunday focused on different things.

But today is 'Homelessness Sunday' at the start of 'Poverty & Homeless Action Week' and Jon Heyes is going to be sharing briefly about the work he is involved in with Adullam Homes.

As a church we can only have so many interests and links. Similarly each of us as individuals cannot support every worthwhile cause. Sometimes the link may be through work as Jon's is. It may be a particular interest. It may be as a result of an illness or a bereavement that you support a particular campaign or charity.

We started off our series on the 5 B's by looking at 'Being the people God intended us to be' and seeing the magnificence of human beings created in the image of God. Although marred and fallen, there is still something magnificent about humans as reflected in so much that goes on particularly in the voluntary and charitable sectors. However let's never forget that God's intention was not just that mankind cares for and looks after the rest of creation but that most importantly we were made for a relationship with God and as we stated in our world view 'without God the crucial dimension is missing from an individual's life.'

Oh by the way next week is also 'National Storytelling Week', 'National Salt Awareness Week', 'International Naturopathy Week', 'National Apprenticeship Week'  ........  Enjoy!
