Moldova 2012

In February 2012, Garrett, Sam and Emma went to Moldova on a youth mission trip. It was significantly colder than here, but much work was done and we are glad to welcome Sam and Emma home again. Garrett will be back soon(ish) and he is taking some enforced time to visit Marlene in the Netherlands.

Here is what Emma has to say about the trip:

On the 9th of February Garrett, Sam and Emma left for Moldova.
They flew to Romania and caught the 12 hour train to Moldova,
once there they worked with the OM (Operation Mobilization) team in
Chisinau.
After a day in Chisinau (The capital of Moldova) they travelled to a
large village, called Meleseni. While in Meleseni they ran a children's club, playing games, singing songs and teaching the local children about the love of God. They also brought the good news to the elderly, while delivering food parcels. Not to mention all the snow shovelling!

After five days in the village they left on Friday the 17th back to
the OM centre in Chisinau. The next day they set out home. They arrived back in the UK at 7:30 Heathrow. All got through customs without trouble, all except Garrett that is. Since he didn't have the right paperwork they deported him to the Netherlands.
After two months of waiting he finally returned on Saturday the 14th of
APRIL.
They are now all back and safe, praise the Lord!

News Round Up 2011

This news section is a recent addition to our website so a summary of the Church family's celebrations seems in order. It has been an important year particularly for two families in SCC. Firstly Cathy and Ziggy announced they were expecting their third child, and also the official invitations were sent out for the wedding of Garrett and Marlene.

In the Summer we were able to share the celebrations at Garrett and Marlene's wedding in Bourneville - a brilliant day with the essential ingredients of a beautiful bride, dashing husband and a room full of smiling guests all present. We wish them both a life filled with love.

Malachi also came bouncing onto the scene at a very cuddly 10lbs, and later in the year we had a wonderful service of thanksgiving for him and his family. He is already starting to mobilise, and is never short of a cuddle from his Mum, Dad and brothers, Billy and Barney.

Tony and Mabel celebrated 50 years of marriage this year too - I am sure they have passed on some handy hints to Garrett and Marlene. They threw a great party to celebrate, and their family did them proud with a fantastic wall of pictures showing their life together, and of course a few speeches and anecdotes along the way.

2011 has had ups and downs for everyone in many different ways - but we are so happy to have a church family to share these with. I haven't mentioned most things that have happened this year due to space and time, but aim to write about SCC much more in 2012.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Samaritan's Purse Shoe boxes

Samaritan's Purse is an agency that helps send thousands of shoe boxes full of gifts to children all over the world, many of whom have never received a gift before.

This year we are very glad to be sending our 90th shoe box overseas, having been filling and sending them for the last three years. It is amazing how many goodies you can fit into a shoe box, and if you go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlC_sHK4mjs&feature=related, you can see the kid's faces as they find out what is in their special box.
